The BLAST results show p38β in all 6 species are all similar and have a catalytic domain of the Serine & Threonine Kinase (STK). It catalyses the transfer of phosphate from ATP to serine/threonine residues to protein substrates. The results also show p38β of zebrafish and frogs have several binding sites including ATP, lipid and polypeptide substrate, a KIM docking site and an activation loop. The rest of the p38β have a ATP binding site only. The position of these binding sites are different to other paralogues.
